The Corona Crucible – Sat 5th December

World 66.2 million    Iran 1 million            Tunisia 100K+

Iran is the 14th country to reach one million COVID infections. Tunisia the 67th country to record 100,000 cases.

The UK has approved the Pfizer vaccine and is starting to roll it out to health care workers and the elderly. This particular vaccine has to be kept at very cold temperatures to be effective, and two doses are needed, so it isn’t the easiest vaccine to manage or administer.

In some good news, it’s been reported that a man who was in a critical condition with COVID-19 and blood poisoning, has made a complete recovery after being given massive dose of Vitamin C. Blood poisoning, also known as sepsis, can quickly be fatal.

Professor Bellomo, Director of Intensive Care at Austin Health in Melbourne, had heard of promising findings using Vitamin C to treat sepsis in animals at the Florey Institute.

After 12 days the patient was taken off ventilation and discharged from hospital 22 days later, fully recovered. Professor Bellomo said the improvement was ‘remarkable’.  Doctors from around the world are now contacting the team in Melbourne to find out more about the treatment.
