The Corona Crucible – Fri 2nd October

World 34.4 million    India 6.3 million       Brazil 4.8 million

There are probably vastly more infections of COVID-19 and fatalities than are being reported worldwide.  This is due to many factors, including the fact that not everyone has access to a COVID-19 test, especially those in poor countries and remote regions.

Virus fragments have been found in the sewage system at Airlie Beach, but there are no known cases of the virus in the whole of Queensland, so how is this possible? Virus fragments have been found in the sewage at Anglesea in Victoria again too.

People can be infected with this virus and have no symptoms, while others end up with lasting health impacts. It’s unpredictable and there is no way to know how an individual might react. It has been observed that people with O blood type are not as badly impacted by the disease as other blood types. This could be due to the fact that O type blood has the necessary antibodies to detect the virus, but this is not confirmed and it doesn’t mean that O blood types are immune to coronavirus. Whichever way you look at it, it looks like this nasty bug will be with us until a vaccine is available.

Here in Melbourne authorities are concerned about a number of cases linked to the food precinct at Chadstone Shopping Centre.

Overnight we recorded just seven new cases. There were two more deaths, taking the number of fatalities in Victoria to 802. Our 14 day average is now 12.8 and the 14 day mystery number (to September 29) is now 14. Both these numbers are on track to be below five in two weeks when we will hopefully emerge from this lockdown.
