The Corona Crucible – Thurs 1st October

World 34.1 million    Spain 770K+  France 560K+

One month ago there were 26 million cases of coronavirus, seven million of them active, and over 850,000 fatalities. One month on and this virus continues to spread around the globe with now 34 million cases, almost eight million of them active and more than one million fatalities. How long will this crisis continue? Will we have to wait for a vaccine? Will there ever be a vaccine?

The impact to millions of people and the economic situation in many countries is devastating. Here in Australia we are far luckier than most. Our second wave here in Melbourne has largely passed and we have the spread of coronavirus largely under control. But there is still virus out there.

Today’s tally of new cases is 15 with two deaths. Our 14 day average is now 15.6 and our mystery number (to September 28) is 19.

If we had opened up last week, I think we would have opened Pandora’s box, but just like the mythic story, we still have hope inside.
