The Corona Crucible – Fri 21st August

World 22.7 million    Colombia 500K+       Spain  390K+

For over 50 days in a row Premier Daniel Andrews (Denials Warden) has fronted the media for an extended press conference. Like many other people in Melbourne, I tune in every day to get the daily update. It’s become part of the routine.

A number of people have expressed concern for the Premier’s wellbeing and are urging him to take time off. He does look tired. A report in The Age a couple of weeks ago about the Victorian Premier said that he has always managed to get by on four or five hours sleep a night. His work load, the stress he is under, his lack of sleep and no time off is not a good recipe for his wellbeing. Even some of the journalists at his briefings are becoming concerned for his health and are urging him to take a break.

Today, the Premier turned up as usual and announced there were 179 new cases which is the first time in over a month that we’ve had a daily count under 200. We still have at least three more weeks of stage four lockdown, but we are on track to get there.  There are now 4421 active cases.
