This week Josh Frydenberg tried to discredit our Premier about the hotel quarantine failure. The media has also been giving Daniel a hard time at his daily press briefings. Even if it was his decision to use security guards to monitor the hotel quarantine, it was probably driven by the desire to create jobs.

If they want to play the blame game, the Federal Government is just as culpable for its policies leading to an insecure workforce and the systemic problems in aged care facilities. This virus continues to expose the weak spots in our economic and social structures. Finger pointing will do nothing to solve these problems.

We may not agree with everything they do, but at least in this country, (unlike the US) state and federal politicians are working together to address this crisis. In recent days the federal government has announced extra funding for mental health services and Victoria has pledged more funds too.

But I do find it annoying that Sir Scott Moron seems to schedule his press briefings to cut across the daily reports from our Premier. He did it again today. I think he’s getting annoyed by the attention that Daniel is getting in responding to this crisis.

The Premier announced 322 new cases of COVID-19 today and sadly 19 more fatalities. While new infection numbers seem to be trending down, the death toll is likely to increase with over 640 people in hospital. There have now been 228 fatalities in Victoria. Active cases have only increased by 15 since yesterday, so hopefully that number will start to decrease soon.
