The Corona Crucible – Fri 19th June

World 8.5 million      India 380K+   Pakistan 160K+

Canada and Bangladesh are the latest countries to record more than 100,000 cases of COVID-19. The ‘curve’ has been gradually flattening in Canada, but is increasing quickly in Bangladesh. There are now 18 countries with more than 100,000 recorded cases of coronavirus. Worldwide, the rate in infection is escalating, increasing by around 140,000 new cases every day. Of course these are only the official numbers of people who have been tested. The real number is probably significantly higher.

Beijing authorities have reinstated a travel ban and closed all schools again to contain a new COVID-19 outbreak, they have classified as ‘severe’.  The case numbers in Victoria have been increasing recently too. 21 new cases on Wednesday and a third Black Lives Matter protestor diagnosed among 18 new cases yesterday. There’s still a long road ahead of us.
