Across the globe, the rate of new coronavirus cases is now increasing by well over 100,000 each day. Infections are rising dramatically in Brazil and the US. Likewise in India, Russia, Mexico, Chile, Peru, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Saudi Arabia is the latest country to record over 100,000 COVID-19 cases.
Australia had just five new cases reported overnight so we are in great shape to beat this virus, with most states having no new cases of coronavirus for several weeks. I hope we don’t get a second wave after the weekend’s demonstrations. Anti-racism protests have spread around the world since George Floyd’s death almost two weeks ago. There is no sign that these demonstrations are waning, especially in the US. COVID-19 infections will probably spike as a result of these mass gatherings.
