Black Lives Matter protests went ahead yesterday in the Melbourne CBD and in other capital cities around Australia. Aboriginal deaths in custody are an ugly reality in this country, akin to the issues confronting America. But unlike America, the protests here were peaceful. I really hope these demonstrations don’t lead to a resurgence in COVID-19 infections, but this virus is highly infectious, and many people who have it, have no symptoms. Yesterday, for the first time since the pandemic was declared, Victoria recorded no new cases of coronavirus.
