The Corona Crucible – Wed 23rd September

World 31.7 million    Russia 1.1 million     China 85K+

Our house faces west and in summer the living room gets very hot, though in winter it’s really cold. Our bedroom is east, but the windows there face south, so it gets very cold in winter. With heating and cooling bills getting higher and higher, we thought it was a good move to invest in some double glazing. We ordered the windows six months ago.

We got up bright and early this morning as the window crew arrived at 7.30 am. They are wearing masks and are confined to the rooms that they are working in. They complete temperature checks before starting work, all surfaces they touch are disinfected. We are confined to other rooms so there is no contact with the tradesmen. Fortunately, we have three toilets in the house, so we can limit contact in the bathrooms as well, when the need arises. The installation will take two days as there are several large windows to replace.

Today’s new coronavirus cases total just 15 with five lives lost. Melbourne’s 14 day average is now 29.4. Cases with an unknown source (7 Sep – 20 Sep) are 41.
