Now that the Victorian outbreak is well and truly under control, internal state borders in Australia are set to reopen in stages over coming weeks. NSW has more cases of COVID-19 than Victoria now.

About six months ago Neil had an opportunity to go to Adelaide for a work project. He was planning to visit his mother while there and spend a week or two. But the work was delayed and then Stage Four restrictions and tighter border closures meant he wasn’t able to go.

Now that the work in Adelaide has been given the go ahead and borders are about to reopen, Neil is planning to go there for a few weeks so he will be able to see his mother and other family members in Adelaide. I’ll stay home and mind the fort, and look after Molly and the goldfish. We’re still waiting for an announcement from the South Australian Government.

Neil’s mum is about 10 years older than my mother, but in much better health. She’s a strong woman, though she has had a couple of recent health issues that cause her a bit of pain and are slowing her down. But on the whole she is in amazingly good health and is as mentally sharp as ever.  She still drives and does the shopping. She plays bridge at her club a few times a week and is teaching me how to play. She’s recently had her 95th birthday.

Victoria had no new cases for the 7th day in a row.

Meanwhile counting of postal votes in the US election continues in a few states with Mad Nut getting more insane every minute as Biden inches towards victory. It was another record COVID count in the US with 118,204 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours.
