The Corona Crucible – Sun 16th August

World 21.5 million    Brazil 3.3 million      India 2.5 million

Neil did the grocery shopping yesterday. Last week when I went, there was no chicken in the meat section, in fact very little meat of any kind due to panic buying. This week however there was plenty of meat available, including chicken. We’re cooking a lamb roast tonight. Neil also went to the local bottle shop to top up our stock of sav blanc.

There’s a hint of spring weather in the air. Our first iris flowered on Wednesday. We did some gardening yesterday, I put some vegetable seeds in to germinate, pumpkin, zucchini and some more broccoli and Neil laid out some mulch in the vege patch. Today is showery and it’s meant to be a wet week ahead. Groundhog days and groundhog nights have set in. I hope our tabletennis table arrives soon, we have another month of lockdown. Compared to what’s happening in many parts of the globe, we are so very fortunate. We will get through this.

The past 24 hours saw 279 cases diagnosed in Victoria, with another 16 fatalities. The number of active cases is dropping.
