Post-COVID we will see some significant and long overdue changes to address climate change, at least here in our state. A report released by Infrastructure Victoria this week has outlined a 30-year plan that focuses on sustainability and waste reduction. Some of the recommendations in the report include the phasing out of all internal combustion engine vehicles by 2050, and the upgrading of the electricity grid for renewable energy among the 95 recommendations.
‘The COVID crisis has created a seismic shift in how Victorians live and work,’ chief executive Michel Masson said. ‘Now is the time to harness the positive changes we’ve seen, and facilitate a transition to a better new normal.’
I hope so. I hope it’s not too late.
