The Corona Crucible – Tues 20th October

World 40.6 million    India 7.5 million       Brazil 5.2 million

At the weekend it was revealed that the New Zealand travel bubble was breached when travellers from New Zealand arrived in Victoria, Western Australia and Tasmania, None of these states signed up to the bubble agreement.

This is a federal issue, and they have clearly stuffed up. But how is it that people are able to purchase airline tickets for locations that are not included in the trans-Tasman bubble? If you are going to have a bubble, the airlines surely need to be in the bubble loop.

Notwithstanding New Zealand is virtually COVID free; that is not the point. The states are apparently powerless to push back against the federal government on this issue. Sir Scott Moron has said nothing about this system glitch. So as it stands, all of Australia is the bubble. With Victoria’s borders open does this mean that Melburnians who live within 25 kilometres of Melbourne airport can travel to New Zealand? Clearly, something is not right here.

Today Victoria had just one new case. Melbourne’s 14 day average is now 6.4 and mystery cases (to 17 October) total 13.
