The Corona Crucible – Mon 31st August

World 25.3 million    Chile 410K+  Argentina 400K+

Last year I had a significant birthday and we had a great party with lots of friends, food, music and dancing. This year we’re spending my birthday like any other day under lockdown.

Neil gave me a voucher for some golf gear, some chocolates and some lovely flowers. Lots of lovely birthday wishes were happily received on FB. I’m feeling blessed. Tonight we’re cooking chicken massaman curry. Yum.

I’ve been playing bridge online with my mother-in-law and we had another session today. She’s been giving me tips and advice and has sent me a bunch of books about the game. She’s 95, very sharp and still playing at her bridge club every week in Adelaide. I’m not sure if I will ever get the hang of bidding, but I’m giving it a go.

Today Daniel Andrews announced that 8 people died from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours in Victoria, plus another 33 aged care deaths have now been attributed to coronavirus. The positive news is that we have had only 73 new cases recorded overnight.
