With not much else to do over the weekend, Neil and I made some face masks. Actually, in the end, Neil did most of the work. He is better at sewing that I am. We found a good mask template and set of instructions online that we thought was better than the one provided by the state government on Friday.
A few years ago when we helped to relocate my mother, we ended up with her old fabrics and haberdashery, so we raided the stack and set to work. Neil found something in his shed to use over the nose section. The masks have three layers of fabric, which is meant to provide about 70 per cent protection from the virus. We made eight washable masks. We wore the masks when we went out shopping today.
There were another 177 cases of coronavirus recorded overnight in Victoria. There’s a long list of clusters throughout Melbourne. In Sydney there is a worrying cluster of 13 cases linked to the Crossroads Hotel that has the potential to spread.
