It’s hard to believe that it’s been just four months since this pandemic was declared. More than one million new infections are being recorded each week. India has overtaken Russia and now has the third highest number of coronavirus cases after the USA and Brazil. Given the population density in India, this is likely to continue to rise.
I really think that the strategy should have been to eliminate this virus, not supress it. It’s just going to drag on and on and on. At this rate, I can’t see how international borders are ever going to reopen. As soon as they do, you’re going to have a surge in coronavirus cases. Authorities have recently stated that the virus is transmitted far more easily through the air than they previously thought.
The number of COVID-19 cases in Victoria has risen sharply overnight; 288 new infections were detected from over 37,000 tests. Authorities are now advocating we wear masks in any situation where we can’t maintain a safe distance from others.
