The Corona Crucible – Sat 2nd May

World 3.4 million

USA    1.1 million      Italy 200K+    Turkey 120K+

A few weeks ago for a brief period, Prime Minister Scott Morrison was talking like a normal person, but has now reverted back to political speak, going on and on about how much his government has given the Australian people over recent weeks. He has the annoying tendency to speak to the Australian public like we are small children. Yesterday, he even said that Australians have earned and ‘early mark’ because we have been so good. Oh goodie, do we all get a gold star and an elephant stamp too?

Personally, I find his condescending tone quite nauseating. Pending an increased uptake of the Coronasafe app by more Australians, an announcement about the early easing of restrictions will be made this coming Friday, after the next National Cabinet meeting,

Of course nothing compares to the idiotic rantings of Land Rot Dump, so I guess we should just take our medicine like well-behaved toddlers and be thankful we don’t live in the Divided States of America.

In Michigan, angry protestors carrying automatic weapons have again ignored social distancing and demanded an end to the coronavirus shutdown. Police allowed the mob into the capitol building in Lansing while a vote was underway about extending restrictions. Utterly terrifying.

The state of Michigan is ranked seventh in the number of coronavirus cases in the US, with over 40,000. Around 1,000 new cases are being diagnosed in Michigan daily; it’s also currently ranked about seventh in that statistic too.

The situation in the US will probably get even worse. According to a report by the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) more than 4,000 workers at meat packing plants across the US are infected with COVID-19, which is threatening food supplies. I am very grateful to live in Australia.
