This week the Victoria Health Minister, Jenny Mikakos announced that our state has expanded coronavirus testing to include anyone who has relevant symptoms. This is aimed at reducing community transmissions of the virus. As the number of returning travellers decreases, more tests are being made available to other sectors of the community. More than half Australia’s 6,400 people with COVID-19 have now recovered. Romania and Denmark now have more cases of COVID-19 than Australia. We are now 31st on the list as our ‘curve’ continues to flatten.
By contrast New York is running out of medical equipment, including swabs used for testing for COVID-19. With each passing day, there are less cases being recorded there, but that could be because people are not being tested. One woman in New York has a novel idea to keep herself safe, wearing a plastic food container over her face for protection.
Land Turd Mop’s latest move is to shift the blame for his inaction onto the World Health Organisation, and he has withdrawn its funding. Lump’s failures to take appropriate action to prevent the spread of this virus in the US are outlined in this March 13 article in The Atlantic, entitled, The Trump Presidency Is Over.
My personal feeling is that Dump’s presidency could end well before the US election this November. But if we do have to wait until then, the only anagram I have come up with for Joe Biden, is ‘Be Joined’. Let’s hope for the US that this is an accurate description of what’s coming.
