about this month's equinox and Aries Full Moon.

INsight

September 2010

Last month’s cliff hanger election result forecast in last month’s INsight, has seen a dramatic shift in Australia’s political landscape. This much levelled playing field will likely mean a new multi-faceted system replaces the old two-party system. So, where to from here? Well for the moment Mercury is still retrograde until September 13, so it could take until then to negotiate a deal and know the exact result. Recounting may be required in a number of key seats too. Mercury rules Virgo and it will still be retrograde for the Virgo New Moon.

Virgo New Moon

September 8

At this Virgo new Moon, Mercury is still retrograde. Not stationing direct until the 13th, Mercury is now rising ahead of the Sun, making fresh and original ideas more accessible. As Mercury separates from the Sun, we have an opportunity to consider how we will approach the future. Virgo is a sign which is constantly making adjustments. It hones, tweaks and edits until everything is exactly correct, making sure that all t’s are crossed and all i’s dotted. The energy of this New Moon is about modifying and refining previous ideas as well as expressing new ideas that have recently been seeded, improving and perfecting them for future use. As negotiations continue between in various players in this interesting political drama, preparation and modification are key aspects of this New Moon.

Full Moon and Equinox

September 23

This is an incredibly powerful Full Moon. As if we needed any reminder that we are in the middle of an intense cardinal alignment, this Full Moon occurs just hours after the spring equinox! This dramatically emphasises the need for decisive action on a host of global problems. Given the recent election result, there will now be a fast and furious focus on the future.

The Sun and Saturn in Libra ask us to consciously take responsibility for our choices and actions. The Sun and Saturn are opposing the Moon, Uranus and Jupiter in Aries, shedding new light on our unconscious reactions, assumptions and ingrained habits. All these planets square off with Pluto, Ceres and the Nodal axis, a portent for dramatic developments and the urgent need for action on climate change.  The cosmos is showing us just how we can bring about more equality and balance, which is possible now with the outer planets, the Sun and Moon, and day and night are equally poised at this Equinox.

The ruling planets of the Sun (Venus) and Moon (Mars) are still very close to one another in the evening skies in the midst of a long embrace.

Now in Scorpio, they are heading towards a second union in as many months, which will take place in October.

Mars, planet of action, the masculine principle of drive, ego, action and aggression, is channelling his passions into this full moon, with intensity, fuelled by powerful emotions and feelings.

Venus, feminine principle of love and beauty, is expressing herself with equal passion and intensity. With Venus in Scorpio our likes and dislikes, our values and priorities are intensified and dogmatically asserted. With Scorpio a process of powerful transformation is underway. Just as death must occur before rebirth, as we are moving now from winter into spring at this equinox, we are crossing a threshold at this point in space-time. Significant decisions and key events are likely to unfold.

This is both an incredibly creative and potentially destructive full moon. The challenge is to create what is sustainable and beautiful, and recycle what is not being utilised, eliminating the unnecessary, the pointless and the unworkable.

Asteroid Hygiea, named for the goddess of healing, is placed at 1 Libra also adjacent the Sun and Saturn. She too is becoming integrated into consciousness reminding us to face the future, acknowledge past mistakes and act to heal in the present.
