THE QUIET SUN

You might recall back in January I was wondering what the unusual lack of sunspots might mean, and what would happen if this were to continue.

Well, there are still no sunspots! For more information on this unusual period solar inactivity go to:

http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2009/01apr_deepsolarminimum.htm

As to what it means astrologically, well perhaps it might be something like a solar eclipse?

When the Moon passes in front of the Sun we are more attuned to the vibrations of the heart and soul. At these times the intuition of the unconscious can potentially unite with consciousness, informing our choices with heartfelt emotion. Maybe the quiet Sol is helping us listen to our inner voice.

More in the coming eclipse season in the next few months…

Mercury Station Retrograde

7 May 2009

In its own sign Gemini, this Mercury retro period seems set to be an intense one. Mercury will form a yod with the South Node and Pluto, reinforcing the potential for communication problems and misunderstandings.

Signs in quincunx have nothing in common, hence the need to be very clear and concise in all verbal and written communications at this time. People are apt to misread signals and we can end up feeling misled or even manipulated if assumptions are made without all the facts.

Yet these issues tend mostly to happen because we continue to rush about without pausing to reflect or because we are avoiding dealing with something that we know we should. Computer problems for example, can be incredibly frustrating, and the more we try to fix it, the more we contribute to the technical hiccups.

Mercury retrograde asks us to take time out from our busy schedule. Why not switch the computer off for a while and go visit a friend face-to-face?

The important thing always with Mercury retrograde is to really listen; both to others and to our instincts. Making time for inward reflection helps us communicate clearly and from the heart.

The day mercury went retrograde I managed to spill a cup of coffee over my keyboard.

Scorpio Full Moon

9 May 2009

With Venus and Mars still closely aligned and moving in unison through the heavens, this Full Moon in Scorpio brings passions to the surface; and reveals our vulnerability and sensuality. The rulers of the Taurus Sun (Venus) and Scorpio Moon (Mars) are in the midst of a long embrace which started last month and which will continue until they meet again in June. Pluto meanwhile continues to square the couple, so their union is not without challenge.

The Sabian Symbol for 19 Taurus is; A New Continent Rising out of the Ocean, which is reminiscent of Venus’ birth in the foaming sea. And for the Moon: A Parrot listening and then talking, highlighting the need for intimate communication throughout this period leading to deeper awareness and understanding.

Saturn Station Direct

17 May 2009

Saturn continues to plough its way through harvest sign Virgo, sorting wheat from chaff. Hard work remains the focus. To reap rewards, effort must continue and details must be attended to, and so down to business as Saturn moves direct. Results are now in sight as we head towards the finish line of long-term projects. By the end of October this two and a half year transit of Virgo will conclude when Saturn shifts into Libra, (although it will return to Virgo briefly in 2010). Between now and October every effort should be made to finalise and complete work commitments and tie up lose ends. Saturn’s forward motion will help bring about the results we have been working towards.

Jupiter Neptune and Chiron Conjunction

Gemini New Moon

24-28 May 2009

Mercury rises ahead of the Sun now, joining Venus in the morning sky. At this Gemini New Moon, fresh ideas are seeded. The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is; Holly and Mistletoe reawaken old memories of Christmas. This resonates with the Jupiter Chiron Neptune conjunction suggesting a theme of joy mixed with pain, perhaps the revisiting of past wounds, loves, and family issues and an assessment of how far we have come and what we have learned along the way.

Neptune stirs memories and a touches our soul with poignant reminders of the wounds we all carry, wounds which usually swim beneath conscious awareness. This stellium of Chiron, Jupiter and Neptune invites us to reflect on the purpose of our journey and to find meaning and joy in everyday experiences.

Jupiter and Neptune make a conjunction every 13 years and may also be asking us to consider bigger questions; such as the purpose and meaning of life itself. The trio make an exact semi-sextile to Uranus in Pisces and a sextile to Mars in Aries. This is a time of mental-emotional convergence, a place and time where healing and wisdom can be found.

Mercury Station Direct

31 May 2009

Mercury has been retrograde for the past three weeks. Now he pauses a moment before resuming forward motion. Having shifted back into Taurus, this gear change is a decisive one, suggesting recent conversations and reflections may have led to important choices. Where do our loyalties lie?

Venus (Mercury’s ruler) continues to gain speed and move alongside Mars. Shared values and activities now underpin our desires, decisions and actions.
