NEWS
I have just heard some exciting news! My book, Secrets of the Zodiac will be available in the US and Canada later this year. Based on the ancient astrological idea that we “evolve” as we travel through the zodiac, Secrets of the Zodiac takes a fresh look at Sun signs, from the perspective that we can teach something to the sign before us, and learn something from the sign which follows. This is a new edition of the book which is being re-released in Australia and New Zealand and the same time.
In mid-May I will be in Sydney and will be speaking at Phoenix Rising Books in Glebe on the 12th May. While in Sydney I will be available for astrology consultations. If you want to make a booking please contact me as soon as possible to arrange an appointment as spaces are limited.
In the April/May 2010 issue of The Mountain Astrologer I have a feature article about the upcoming Uranus in Aries transit. This article focuses on how we might utilise this dynamic energy and the coming T-square it makes with Saturn and Pluto, as a force for positive change.
Meanwhile, for anyone interested, recordings of my recent presentations in Brisbane; Oriental and Occidental Planets, and The Secret Dance of Venus and Mars are available here.
Virgo Full Moon
March 1 2010
This is another Super Moon with the Full Moon in close proximity to the Earth. Jupiter reaches superior conjunction now, at its greatest distance from Earth; it’s moving fast as it aligns with the Sun and Moon.

In Pisces, Jupiter is in its traditional sign of rulership. This means it’s functioning at optimum capacity. Since Pisces is known to be unconcerned with limitations or boundaries, and has escapist tendencies at times, we might need reminding that too much of a good thing can bring on a nasty hangover!
Jupiter’s rapid speed over the coming months tells us the pace of life is likely to be hectic, with a great deal of travel, celebrations and good times in store.
But as this Full Moon is in Virgo, this will help us focus on practical details, and not leave a big mess for someone else to clean up.

Mars Station Direct
The month of March is named for Mars, so it is appropriate that the warrior planet should begin to “march” forwards again now. Anyone born around 23 August is likely to feel a sudden infusion of energy now.
Personally, I have found Mars’ extended stay in Leo rather exhausting. Others have told me they have likewise felt a lack of energy or motivation since December while Mars has been retrograde.
Mars will gradually pick up momentum over the coming weeks and energy levels will start to increase, particularly after the Aries Ingress when the Sun moves into Mars’ sign on March 20.

Pisces New Moon
The Sabian Symbol for this Pisces New Moon is “A new moon that divides its influences.” Mercury and Uranus align within a degree of the Sun and New Moon which will heighten innovation and imagination fostering the birth of original and highly creative ideas, possibly with far reaching affects.
The challenge will be to decide which idea to focus on, as numerous original ideas may surface.
Uranus and Mercury stimulate instinct and intuition. Pay special attention to any coincidences, or hunches. Allow the unconscious mind to communicate with you.

Aries Ingress

Set for the Equinox, the Aries Ingress is the moment when day and night are of equal length everywhere on Earth. In this chart Saturn, planet of reality and earthly limitation is opposing the Sun and therefore close to the Earth. This enables us to turn our creative visions into tangible forms.
Although Mars has recently turned direct, he is moving very slowly,
as he makes a trine to the Sun. This encourages Mars to take action and be more assertive, but also tells us that we would do best to start out slowly. The Sun and Mars are also in mutual reception, (in each other’s sign) so the Sun encourages Mars on his return journey.
Mars will be eager to get going after his long retrograde cycle, where he has felt rather frustrated by his slow progress and lack of motivation. Thus encouraged by being given an opportunity to shine, he might start behaving in an egocentric or aggressive manner. Still, the Sun is shining more brightly upon his long lost son now and is likely to be in a forgiving mood.
The overall message of this Ingress seems to be that before we spring into developing our projects, this is a good time for mapping out the terrain and preparing the soil before planting our new season “crops”.

Libra Full Moon
Another Blue Moon! (For Australia)
This Blue Moon is the last one for a couple of years. The next time we get two full moons in a calendar month will be around August 2012.
Easter is coming. Easter Sunday always falls on the Sunday following the Full Moon that follows the Spring Equinox (northern hemisphere). This is why it’s on a different date each year. In the Christian calendar Easter celebrates the resurrection of Christ, but this holiday (holy-day) has ancient pagan roots. It is a time to celebrate the return of fertility to the land at the Spring Equinox. It’s a time of re-birth and the resurrection of nature, after winter’s hardships.
Meanwhile, intensity is starting to build as the cardinal T-square involving Saturn, Pluto and Uranus is highlighted by this Full Moon. If you look skyward at the Full Moon you will see Saturn close by, reminding us to take responsibility for our own actions and reactions.
