Jupiter enters Aries on the 6th while approaching a union with Uranus. As if to underline the importance of this Aries ingress, the moon is also involved in this powerful alignment. Conjunctions and ingresses signal the birth of something new. This is further emphasised by occurring in Aries, the first sign of the zodiac.
Jupiter is currently heading towards its closest approach to the Sun, which will occur in March 2011. This means it is moving fast, accelerating the bravado, excitement and spontaneity of this alignment.
In two days Jupiter and Uranus will unite exactly in the heavens, at the exact location the Moon is placed today, 00.19 Aries!
Jupiter conjunct Uranus
8th June
This conjunction happens once every 14 years and heralds exciting breakthroughs and quantum leaps. The Moon landing in 1969 took place on the day of a Jupiter Uranus conjunction, which was located at the polar opposite point, 0 degrees Libra.
In 1983 Australia was euphoric when we won the America’s Cup. This was also on the day of a Uranus Jupiter conjunction, that one in the sport loving and lucky sign of Sagittarius, which features strongly in Australia’s national chart.
Our Prime Minister at the time, Sagittarian Bob Hawke, was quoted as saying on national television that any boss who sacked anyone for not turning up to work the following day was a “bum”.
Astonishing technological breakthroughs are associated with this union. A few weeks ago, researchers announced that they have managed to create a transistor which is the first step towards thoughts and ideas being translated into digital images and text. It means that computers will be able to interact directly with the brain. Read More
Another small transistor has just this month been developed which will make it possible for our personal computers to be housed in a box the size of a matchbox.
This current conjunction is likely to be quite volatile owing to tense aspects they are making to both Pluto and Saturn. Already we have seen a spike in volcanic and earthquake activity. The volatility in financial markets continues, as we have seen with the recent collapse of the Greek economy and its implications. This is consistent with Pluto’s ongoing journey through earth sign Capricorn which is asking us to make seismic shifts to the way we manage money and the Earth’s resources.
Mars meanwhile, which holds sway over this conjunction in Aries, is moving into earth sign Virgo after his extended stay in Leo. Mars gets down to brass tacks and very busy in detailed Virgo, but may have some confusing issues to contend with as he is opposing Neptune and Chiron.
With Mars quincunx Jupiter and Uranus and all three at ingress points, new awareness of the relationship between the micro and the macro is now possible. Mars in Virgo is interested in details, while Jupiter and Uranus are very BIG picture, hence confusion may reign as we try to see both the forest and the trees and attempt to understand their relationship to each other.
Hold on tight for a rollercoaster ride as we approach eclipse season!
June 12
Gemini New Moon
As if to underline the potential for deception and confusion, Gemini’s ruling planet, trickster Mercury is strongly placed in its own sign and squares both Chiron and Mars at this New Moon.
Corruption, trickery and bribery may come to light at this New Moon. There are two tense t-squares in the heavens now, sitting about 30 degrees apart. While there is much excitement with the Jupiter-Uranus factor, the potential for conflict is also high. June is a volatile month.
Cancer Ingress
June 21

The current emphasis on cardinal signs is clearly evident in the solstice chart. Having reached its most northerly aspect, Sol turns around and starts heading south once more and daylight begins to increase in the Southern hemisphere.
The current cardinal emphasis includes the Sun, Juno and South Node in Cancer, the Moon in Libra, Pluto and the North Node in Capricorn, while Uranus and Jupiter are in Aries.
All four cardinal signs, Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn are full of initiative and leadership potential. They are active and forward thinking. Cardinal signs are in conflict with one another, as are all squares.
Cardinal squares are difficult because two (or more) people want to lead, and they want to head in different directions, each having their own ideas and values. Conflict can result as tension escalates.
Recently, in the UK elections were held which resulted in a hung parliament with no clear winner. In this case three leaders were vying for the top job. Interestingly, a few months ago there was a similar election result in Tasmania, another hung parliament.
This is in keeping with the current cardinal emphasis, as the planets present us with a choice of which direction we should go. Who to follow? Who is able to lead us out of the multitude of current global crises?
With Saturn about to re-enter Libra, consensus and cooperation are needed before progress can be made.
Conservative leader David Cameron and leader of the Liberal Democrats Nick Clegg struck a deal which returned the Tories to government after Britain's cliff hanger election.
This was the country's tightest election race in decades. The last time there was a hung parliament in the UK was in 1974, when Saturn and Pluto were also in a cardinal square.
The stage is set for some interesting political developments in the lead up to the Australian Federal Election later this year, or early in 2011.
Meanwhile the state of Victoria is also set to go to the polls in late 2010. The results of both elections are likely be close, for cardinal cross presents us with the question of which party should lead us over the coming few years.
Lunar Eclipse
June 26
Capricorn Full Moon
This partial lunar eclipse will be visible across Australia and New Zealand.
Yet more emphasis is being placed on cardinal signs as the Moon unites with Pluto, lord of the underworld, and the North Node, while opposing the Sun forming a cardinal grad cross square with Saturn, Uranus and Jupiter.
In the 1974 chart for Greece which has been experiencing major economic troubles, we see a similar pattern.
As in the current lunar eclipse chart, Greece has a cardinal Moon Pluto conjunction. In 1974 this was at 4 degrees of Libra, which is in exact square to the current Moon Pluto conjunction at 4 degrees of Capricorn.
Saturn is now also heading for a square to its 1974 position.
The transiting south node is aligning with Greece's Ascendant, Saturn and Mercury, suggesting that the major adjustments in their relationships with other nations and day-to-day business practises are needed.
Pluto-Moon evokes unconscious patterns from the past which are being illuminated by this eclipse.
Age old conflicts, whether personal, familial, or historical, have the potential to flare up during this eclipse season.
Ultimately, Pluto asks us to let go of the past and begin afresh, which is in keeping with the burst of new of creative energy emerging at this time.
