Nature and Health Annual

Just a reminder that Nature and Health 2009 Annual is available in newsagents this month. Read more about the energy of the coming year, and how it will manifest both personally and collectively. Includes stress management tips and healing options for each Sun sign.

Healing Meditation Circle

Commencing Monday 9 Feb 2009 I will be running a weekly meditation group and healing circle in Altona.

Meditation has proven health benefits such as lowering blood pressure, reducing stress and boosting the immune system.

Over  8 weeks I will guide you through a range of healing visualisations based on an ancient eastern system specifically designed to eliminate negative emotions and help you fully relax, thus creating an inner state of sustained wellbeing and health.

We will also include a group meditation to help bring about healing and peace in a wider context and to help heal the Earth.

The venue is close to the beach and local park, so we’ll be able to use these locations when the weather and ambience is right. Spaces are limited so book early. This class will be ongoing throughout 2009. 8 weeks per term.

I will also be running a series of Sunday astrology workshops throughout 2009. Details will be posted shortly.

Insight Forecast

January 2009

Sunspot Cycle 24 has stalled.

Sunspot activity goes in 11 year cycles, and each cycle the magnetic polarity is reversed. But there have been periods throughout history when the Sun has failed to produce any sunspots at all.

Notable among these is a period called the Maunder Minimum when from 1645-1715 we experienced a mini ice age on Earth. Are we heading for another?

The current cycle was meant to have commenced in 2006-7, but now at the start of 2009 there have only been one or two sunspots. This current cycle is meant to reach a peak in 2011 or 2012, but so far there is almost no solar activity.

Solar flares release surges of intense electromagnetic energy surging through space which affects life on Earth, including weather patterns.

There is no doubt the weather has been crazy of late. Here in Australia it has been wet and cold this spring, which is highly unusual for this time of year. In the US they have had snowstorms in the southern states, including Las Vegas and areas of Mississippi, which is highly unusual and there have been ice storms in the northern states.

Perhaps the Sun has seen fit to counteract the effects of global warming by forestalling this sunspot cycle to help the Earth rebalance itself?

Around the year 535 C.E. there was a major cycle of cooling on Earth, which is thought to be connected to a major volcanic eruption. This was the time of the Dark Ages which correlated to a cycle of Pluto in Capricorn, which is where Pluto is now positioned once again.

Since 0 Capricorn is a solstice point, perhaps Pluto here signifies a cycle of temperature extremes, either heat or cold.

It remains to be seen if sunspot cycle 24 fires up or not. Below are some links you might want to look at. Sun spots are now at a fifty year low.

The pressure of the solar wind has also reduced by around 20 per cent and this reduction is the steepest ever seen. They only started measuring the solar wind in the 1960s so it is not known if this reduction is normal over the longer term or not.  This is associated with a reduction in the temperature of the sun.

Saturn station retrograde

1/1/2009

The year begins with a turning point in Saturn’s motion as it begins to swing back towards its second of five oppositions to Uranus.

In this chart the Moon and Venus are at one end of a cluster involving almost all planets in either Capricorn or Aquarius, at the other end are Pluto and Mars. Only Saturn and Uranus are uninvolved, along with asteroids Ceres, Pallas and Vesta which stand apart from the group, suggesting that at this time perhaps a female perspective can provide a different point of view into the current Saturn - Uranus dilemma. Do we opt for a new radical change or stick with a traditional, conservative approach.  What freedoms need to be curtailed and regulated? How do we work with both these energies? Which part of the system need to be overhauled? Which new technologies will become the standard systems of the future?

As 2009 commences the emphasis is on thinking long and hard about restructuring our world. What are the new rules and how do we implement them to achieve a lasting result?

Jupiter Aquarius ingress

6/1/2009

Jupiter exits Capricorn and enters Aquarius on 6 Jan, shifting our collective attitude towards a more positive and optimistic outlook.

Fresh ideas and new approaches are suggested by Jupiter’s conjunction to Mercury and the North Node. Ground-breaking innovations and creative expression are paramount and are more likely to get off the ground.

While Jupiter is in Aquarius over the coming 12 months, we are being given an opportunity to implement new technological changes which will carry us forward.

Though we are reeling from the shock of the first hit of Saturn-Uranus, we can now take up the offer Jupiter is giving us to think outside the square. Meanwhile Saturn in Virgo will work with Mercury in Aquarius in mutual reception this month to help establish a new framework and systems we so desperately need.

Jupiter squares the Moon which is Void of Course, so we may not feel comfortable or secure with the fact that these changes are happening, however there are bigger issues to face than one’s personal insecurities.

Changes will likely come swiftly over the coming 12 months.

Cancer Full Moon

11/1/2009

The Sabian Symbol for this Full Moon is: A woman awaiting a sailboat. Where will this boat take her? Upstream, downstream, into a ragaing torrent, or across a vast ocean?

This chart contains a mystic rectangle involving Saturn in trine to the Sun, sextile Uranus, trine the Moon sextile Saturn. Sun and Moon of course are opposing one another, as they do at every Full Moon.

Trines and sextiles help oppositions to flow in productive and harmonious ways, bringing about a positive utilisation of these energies. Now is the time to get into the boat and prepare for the voyage ahead. Time to set sail.

The tension of the opposiion of Uranus and Saturn is aided by the Sun and Moon at this time, as yin (Moon) and yang (Sun) help Saturn and Uranus to communicate and work towards a solution.

Mercury stations retrograde

12/1/09

Communication however may breakdown shortly after the Full Moon because Mercury retrogrades the next day.

This is more likely to occur if we fail to take this opportunity to reflect on what we personally need to do. Mercury retrograde cycles are times when we need to take a look at ourselves.

Mercury will retrograde in air signs this year, so talking over things with friends will help us see ourselves more clearly.

Chinese New Year

Year of the Earth Ox

The Ox is an earthy animal, and he is in his element this year, for 2009 is an Earth year too.

The emphasis on the Earth element, is strengthened and stabilised here. With Saturn in Virgo, and Pluto in Capricorn, as last year, the global focus continues to be on the environment. We have an opportunity to work towards a global agreement on carbon emissions. This emphasis on the Earth element is strengthened now, and so there is a good chance that an agreement will be reached in 2009.

My feeling is that the most likely time for this to occur is in April when Neptune returns to its discovery position of 165 years ago. For we are about to more fully realise that we only have one Earth.

Inauguration of the 44th President of the US

Barack Obama

There are a couple of points worth mentioning in this inauguration chart. The Moon is in the last degree of Scorpio, in the 7th house. This Void of Course Moon suggests that Obama will have significant challenges ahead and may not be able to do as much as he promised.  In Scorpio (the sign of other people’s money) and the 7th house of other nations, this will likely be related to foreign debt and monetary issues.

Though he may be powerless to do much about the global financial mess, the Moon does make a useful sextile to the Sun and Mercury, however Mercury is retrograde, combust but is cazimi, within 6 minutes of inferior conjunction. My reading on this is that the USA needs to take a good hard look at itself, and in doing so, a major overhaul of its national identity and its financial systems will occur under this presidency.

Jupiter will assist in this process, but Uranus and Saturn which rule the stellium of planets in Aquarius, are opposing one another, so no matter what Obama undertakes, he will most likely get people offside. Reform is likely to be a key factor of his presidency, and the conservatives in particular will not be happy about that.

Pluto on the cusp of the 9th suggests he will also make good his promise to overhaul foreign policy.

26/1/09

Solar Eclipse

This eclipse takes place on Australia Day and it will be visible in Australia, though its focal path crosses Indonesia, very close to Jakarta the capital and virtually over the top of Krakatoa, which on the face of it, doesn’t seem terribly good.

Jupiter is involved in this eclipse, only a degree and a half away from the Sun and Moon, and the stellium in Aquarius promises something new and exciting.

Creative freedom is paramount at this time, so there may be explosive reactions against oppression wherever it may be found. This is also shown by the T-square to Vesta in Taurus, hence there may also be volcanic stirrings if not in Indonesia, then at another location, perhaps on the opposite side of the globe.

There is a powerful Thor’s hammer, or tri-square, pointing towards Saturn in Virgo, which continues to apply the pressure and keep us busy with the responsibility of trying to work out how to fix the numerous problems we face on planet Earth, not to mention our personal ones.
