Mercury Neptune conjunction in Aquarius – 2nd hit
3rd February
What your intuition is telling you may be quite different to what is being said verbally. Listen with the heart. The unconscious is speaking louder than usual now, which might be perceived by more rational or intellectually minded souls as complete rubbish. But if you are relying solely on external facts and data at this time you might be led up the garden path. Equally, relying solely on intuition, without engaging logical thought processes may bring about an element of doubt or uncertainty. Mercury and Neptune when working harmoniously together can bring prophetic and synchronistic experiences which defy logical explanation, but at the same time make perfect sense!
Annular Solar Eclipse in Aquarius
7 February
Every New Moon is seed moment when new concepts emerge from the unconscious mind, seeking expression. In Aquarius, the sign of the bright idea and inventive genius, this eclipse illuminates a light bulb overhead. Those who feel this potent creative impulse will cry, “Eureka!” In the bigger picture sense, scientific breakthroughs will likely characterise this eclipse. With Mercury retrograde, between the Earth and the Sun and making its closest approach to the Earth, intuition will pay off big time. The future is born in the present moment. The Sabian symbol for 18 Aquarius, the location of this eclipse, is; “a man unmasked.” What was not visible before now becomes visible. What was previously unconscious now becomes conscious. We awaken to a new day; everything seems surreal, yet in sync. We see with new clarity and vision what the future will be! Promethean-like we set about to create that future!
Note: This eclipse will be visible from the South-Eastern region of Australia, including Melbourne. Of course you should never look directly at the Sun.
This New Moon/Eclipse is also the beginning of the Chinese Year of the Earth Rat. The Rat is the first sign of the Chinese Zodiac, signifying a time of new beginnings. This year is a fortunate time to start new ventures so if you have a good idea this is the right time to put plans into action as the Rat is industrious and clever. Being the Year of the Earth Rat, means that there are practical tangible results to be achieved through hard work. This year also favours new relationships, marriage, starting a family, any new endeavour.
Note: If your birthday falls within a day or so of this eclipse you will particularly notice its effects, as will anyone with planets around 17-18 Aquarius or Leo.
Mercury Station-Direct
Sun ingresses to Pisces
19 February
When Mercury turns direct we often realise we have missed out on a crucial piece of information, and that some of our actions taken in the meantime, may have been based on false assumptions. This can cause the proverbial to hit the fan in no uncertain terms. As Mercury retrogrades in air signs this year, this is especially the case in 2008. The communication breakdowns which often accompany Mercury retrograde may cause some tension in relationships; however all will be quickly forgiven when the Sun enters Pisces a few hours later.
Total Lunar Eclipse in Virgo
21 February
The Sun and Moon line up on opposite sides of the Earth and the Moon moves into the Earth’s shadow. It’s quite amazing the synchronicity in the universe. I mean what are the odds do you think of the Sun and Moon appearing the same size as viewed from Earth? The Sun is some 400 times further away from us than the Moon and also 400 times bigger than the Moon, which is why astrologically the two luminaries are given equal astrological emphasis as the key planetary archetypes of Yin (Moon) and Yang (Sun).
As the Moon passes through the Earth’s Virgo Shadow, we are being given an opportunity to see things in a new light; the light is focused and reflected via the Pisces spiritual dimension onto the Virgoan goddess of the Earth in her virginal pristine state. Can we continue to avoid seeing what is obvious? Unite with others who see what is happening. Join in spiritual vigils and take the opportunity to ritually honour Gaia for her continued patience with the human race. Recognise that her capacity for endurance is swiftly running out.
This eclipse will not be visible in Australia. Let’s hope we “see” it anyway!
Saturn Sun opposition
Feb 24
Saturn in Virgo opposes the Sun while making her closest approach to the Earth, coming just days after the Lunar Eclipse. “Time” is indeed running out. Saturn, the lord of time, is in Virgo so we are likely to see some major decisions and issues affecting agriculture. Headlines concerning the drought, genetic engineering of crops, climate change, floods, famine, gross domestic product, imports and exports of commodities etc are on the cards. As Saturn aligns with the Sun and Earth, important government decisions concerning the environment are taken. Let’s hope common sense prevails. It’s time to take personal responsibility and restructure our lives, time to conserve.
