Leo Full Moon
8 Feb 2012
The big event this month is on Feb 4 when Neptune changes signs. This only happens once every 13 years. Hovering at the threshold of Pisces and late Aquarius for the past year or so, Neptune now commits fully to the fluid sign of the fishes, immersing itself deeply in the watery domain of its modern day sign of rulership.
The implications of this transit are quite profound. Everything liquid is emphasised and is seen through the lens of a fluid Neptunian vibration.
You can read my research into the cycle of Neptune in Pisces in two recently published articles…in Wellbeing 2012 Astrology Annual edition, or in The Mountain Astrologer January 2012 edition. In due course I will upload these features to my website.
At this Full Moon Mercury will reach superior conjunction, hence it is invisible and at its most distant from Earth. In Aquarius, Mercury is innovative and inventive, often coming up with novel ideas and fresh insights. New approaches to old problems will likely emerge into consciousness now. This brings a wider focus and broader awareness.
Saturn meanwhile is stationing retrograde, and has not quite finished with Libra yet. This suggests further wrangling over legal issues and matters related to justice and equality is to come as we work towards negotiated settlements in long standing disputes.
With Mars now retrograde, we may not get what we want, not in the short term anyway. Mars’ transit through Virgo is a long one, and suggests a period of hard work and focus will ensue over coming months. This will be very useful for tackling projects that require concentration, stamina and endurance, be it mental or physical.
Early this month Mars and Venus are opposing which brings a high degree of passion and intensity to relationships. Passion can be a positive or a negative. There is a great deal of electricity generated by this aspect. Tensions come to a head while sexual attraction is heightened. Venus and Mars being natural opposites are in some respects quite comfortable when aligned on opposite sides of the Earth. The challenge for us is to use this highly intense energy in a creative way, not destructively.
Pisces New Moon
22 Feb 2012
The Sun and Moon align with Neptune, Chiron and Pallas Athena, ushering in a spiritual and compassionate vibration. But Neptune can be volatile as well as soothing and calm. The mythic Neptune was an angry god who could whip up furious storms. Neptune’s entry into Pisces suggests more attention on matters associated with water, oil and oceans as issues connected with shipping and trade develop.
Action on water issues is needed as well as plastic in our oceans and other pollutants, over fishing, and climate change. These problems will become increasingly apparent as we move into this Neptune in Pisces era.
In June 2011 when Neptune first crossed the Pisces threshold, twenty leaders and heads of state, including US former president Bill Clinton warned of an impending 'water crisis' and agreed to establish a panel to tackle a worldwide leadership gap on water issues.
A report in The Age said the panel would work to raise the issue's political prominence to avert looming problems with worldwide water supply.
‘Members of the InterAction Council attending the annual meeting in Quebec City urged a new international water ethic and offered 21 recommendations for world water management. At the top of the list: ''placing water at the forefront of the global political agenda''.’
We are collectively becoming more aware of the interconnectedness of life on planet Earth. Neptune in Pisces is set to further enhance our understanding and awareness.
