Finey, Rees and Rudhyar
George Finey
Caricaturist, political cartoonist, painter, sculptor, poet, bohemian and philosopher, George Finey possessed innumerable talents.
Pop told me that his mother said he was born one hour before St Patrick’s Day, but with 11pm or later, we get Capricorn rising, which to my mind is highly unlikely. Sagittarius rising is much more in keeping with his nature.

Ahead of his time in many respects, he was restless, always full of ideas, would talk to anyone, any time about any subject under the Sun, mostly about art, the human animal, and the state of the world.
A true Piscean, he imagined how the world be an infinitely better place if we just abolished money. Pop would often talk about “that other fish” which would always grab his attention and distract him from what he was doing.
An excess of mutable energy is a striking feature of his chart. The Sun, Moon, ASC/Desc axis, Nodal Axis, IC/MC Axis, Mars, Jupiter, Neptune and Pluto are all in mutable signs.
Lloyd Rees
Artists George Finey and Lloyd Rees were born less than 24 hours apart.
I recall contacting the Rees family many years ago to ask about his time of birth, but I have since lost the information. I did however calculate the chart for 1am and have the feeling that this was based on information I received at the time. If so, then Finey and Rees were born only an hour or so apart.
Capricorn rising seems to fit with Rees’ persona. He struck me as a far more serious character than Finey.
Both artists appeared together in an interview by Michael Parkinson in Australia. Finey died in June 1987 at the age of 92, Rees died in December 1988 aged 93.

Dane Rudhyar
Astrologer Dane Rudhyar was also a talented artist and composer. He was born a week after Finey. They also shared a Sagittarian Ascendant. Rudhyar passed away in 1985, aged 90. (More to come.)
