Pisces New Moon

March 5 2011

Mars is in Pisces. Under normal circumstances this is considered passive and rather lame, however closer scrutiny of planetary cycles reveals that nothing could be further from the truth.

Mars is at perihelion now. At the same time it has just begun a new cycle having recently aligned with the Sun. With these two cosmic events coinciding, Mars is activated to a high degree. He is an action hero and he wants an adventure. The month of March is actually named after Mars the warrior and archetypal hero.

Jupiter also reaches perihelion this month. Not only that; but the combination of Jupiter in Aries with Mars in Pisces means that these two planets are in mutual reception.

Mutual reception boosts the energy level of the planets involved and locks them together, creating a kind of vortex. This powerful interaction will continue throughout March. Then in April, Mars will move into Aries, its sign of rulership where he will join forces with Jupiter. We have not by any means seen the end of this dynamic duo.

Virgo Full Moon

20 March 2011

This Virgo Full Moon happens one day before the Equinox. There are tremendous forces at work on Earth, as there are in the heavens. Emotions run high and tension is set to escalate.  This Full Moon is an extreme Supermoon, with the Moon extra close to the Earth.  Emotions are running very hot. Actions speak louder than words.

The Aries Ingress the following day highlights rebellious Uranus who has just crossed the Aries threshold too. The Sun and Uranus are dazzling us with their combined ‘light’, waking us up to an amazing future that is happening right now before our eyes. The consciousness raising potential of this moment in history is scintillating.

‘Ignorance,’ the saying goes, ‘is no excuse.’ And there is no possible excuse now.

With Mars, the ruler of Aries in such a dynamic and energised configuration, plus also oriental and rising before the Sun, the desire for change, freedom and autonomy is fuel injected.

In Southern Somalia a new state is being born. Egyptian citizens cry for an end to 30 years of dictatorship and demand free elections. The military (Mars) is  by and large supporting the citizens.  Stay tuned, there is more to come.

Uranus has been called the great awakener.  Now that he joins the Sun, symbol of consciousness at the first degree of the zodiac, there is a powerful agenda for reform that will not be denied. The freedom to create and the individual’s right to decide their own destiny is first and foremost.

Last year I wrote a feature article for The Mountain Astrologer about the cycle of Uranus in Aries and its cyclic relationship to Pluto. If you haven’t already done so, you might like to read more about the dynamic implications of this new seven year cycle as it gets underway.

Aries is a sign which is forthright, honest and direct. With Mars now moving at its fastest possible pace, the hero in each of us is called to action. Fortunately, with Mars located in compassionate and peaceful Pisces, we are also feeling empathy for the plight of others.

A new spiritual awareness is being birthed. We are all individuals with a voice, seeking choice, leadership and direction. There are many conflicts and different viewpoints but we are all united in wanting to live together peacefully. As we struggle to survive on this beautiful living Earth we must learn to live sustainably and share her precious resources.
